Now accepting applications for the 2025 OBDC Honor and All-Star Bands!

We’d love to have you join us in the All-Star or Honor Band to perform at the 54th annual Ohio Band Directors Conference!

Join the 2025 OBDC All-Star or Honor Band at The University of Akron on December 5-6th! You'll work with our incredible guest conductors, have a sectional with our fantastic studio faculty, and perform with new friends.

The Honor Band is an auditioned group. This year, we are pleased to have Dr. Terry Austin as the guest conductor. Submit your audition application and video by Monday, October 20th!

The All-Star "Director Recommended" Band does not require an audition. Simply submit an application by Monday, October 20th, and we will send a recommendation link to your director to complete on your behalf. This year, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Daniel Neuenschwander as our guest conductor!

For your "Music Major For A Day" experience, you will tour our music facilities, meet our faculty, and get to know our music department first-hand.

Concert Bands: Wind Symphony, Symphony Band, Concert Band

Three ensembles performing a variety of wind & percussion repertoire.

UA offers three major concert bands, Wind Symphony (the most selective), Symphony Band, and Concert Band. Auditions are held during the first week of fall semester. All students may participate regardless of major.
